Malia and Sasha should be so lucky as to have Republicans take over the Senate and the White House next year.

When Republicans took over the House for the first time in 40 years on January 3, 1995, the Dow stood at 3,838.48.

When they relinquished control of Congress on January 3, 2007, the Dow stood at 12,474.52.

The Dow tripled.

Unemployment was 5.6% in January 1995.

Unemployment was 4.6% in January 2007.

Unemployment fell by a full point.
