The kids from Chula Vista, CA are world champs!

For the second straight year it took a dramatic comeback to win the Little League World Series championship and Chula Vista did it with outstanding pitching and clutch hitting. The California boys rallied behind relief pitcher Kiko Garcia who threw 3 scoreless innings. That allowed the bats to catch up and do what they have done all series. Down 3-0 coming into the bottom of the third, Chula Vista scored a run on an error that seemed to deflate the kids from  Chinese Taipei (Taiwan). Garcia retired Taiwan 1-2-3 in the forth and you could feel the momentum swinging California’s way. The bats got hot for Chula Vista in the 4th and they scored 3 to take the lead. Taiwan was reeling. They were  now on their third pitcher, trying anything to stop the hot US bats. It wasn’t to be—California added two more in the fifth and were just three outs from the  World Championship. Garcia took the mound in the 6th with a steely look in his eye; he was in the zone. He knew what he had to do and he did it striking out the side to cinch the win.

California set a Little League Championship series record for homers at 19 but failed to hit one in the final game. They used clutch hitting, flawless defense and superior pitching to earn this win.  Congratulations!
